The Power of Six

Fine! I am now addicted to the Lorien Legacies.

Two days ago, Chester and I were chatting about my recent post. I told him how good “I am Number Four” was and that I am planning to get a copy of “The Power of Six” this weekend. Then, I just told him that he can give me one as a Christmas gift. An idea popped into my head, all of a sudden I ask him if he can get a PDF file of the book and send it to my email address. That will work as a Christmas gift.

Chester was crazy, after a few minutes, he just told me that he was already downloading the book. He sent the file via SKYPE and after I thanked him, I started reading it. I finished the book in a day. Whew!

Before I read the book, I thought that it will be all about Six, Number Four’s ally. I know that it will be the continuation of the first book but on a different point of view, concentrating on Six rather than on Four. However, the book begins with number Seven. Haha!

Four and Six were on a mission to find the remaining Gardes. They know that they were stronger together. Henri also left a letter to Four about his past. Four also opened his chest that contains his inheritance.

The second book was way better than the first one. The story is more interesting, a lot of things happened, more questions being answered, and more kicked ass characters. It’s nice seeing the other Lorien Garde’s on the book. The story of Seven and Six were tough, I thought that they were as fortunate as Four because he has a good Cepan, but that is not the case. Seven needs to suffer and live in an orphanage while Six has to be alone because of her Cepan’s tragic death. Nine was also introduced on the book, and his legacy, Antigravity. Seven can heal and swim underwater without drowning. Now, I really want to be an alien. Haha.

What makes me upset about the Second Book was Sarah and Sam. Sarah turned Four and Sam to the police. While Sam got lost, maybe taken by the Mogs, because he was in search of his father. Nine and Four continue without Sam, while Six went all the way to Spain to save Seven then they will go back to America. Six left a note for Four however when Sam got lost, the note also disappeared. I wonder what they will do to find each other.

The series is really getting interesting. Too bad we still have to wait until August next year for the new book to be released. I am pretty sure that five and eight will be introduced. Though I know that they were already introduced in book two, they were the guy who moves object in India and the other is the girl who saved someone on the earthquake, I can’t wait to hear their stories.
I also want to know more about nine, what will happen to Sarah and John’s relationship, and what the hell happened to Sam. I just hope that Sam will not be the bad guy. But, who knows right? Pittacus Lore said that the events are still taking place somewhere in the planet, so we are still not sure what will happen.

But, damn, August 2012 is still too far.

I AM NUMBER FOUR

(Pangalawang beses ko ng isusulat ito, nagbrown out kasi, lesson, I save ang Drafts! Pak! Haha.)

Okay. I am really not into books being turned into film. After I watched Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, I stopped watching all its movies. I also ended my fascination with The Twilight Saga after I read the series. Books will always be way better.

Earlier this year, I watched this film on DVD.

Here is the trailer.

Pretty interesting, right?

I love the movie, there was no doubt about it. Effects were great, fight scenes were superb, the story is nice, and Alex Pettyfer is way too fine! :)

Diba? Haha. :)

However there were a lot of questions. What was Lorien? Why were they fighting? And the most intriguing, WHY DO THEY HAVE TO BE KILLED IN ORDER?

After searching the web, and failing to get the answers that I needed, I just decided to buy the book.

I Am Number Four is the first installment of the Lorien Legacies. It still doesn’t say how many books will the series have, according to its echuserang author, the events are still taking place here in our planet. Haha. Cool, right? Somewhere in Earth, there are aliens fighting and searching for their legacies.

According to the Book, before, there were other Life Sustaining Planets in the galaxy – Lorien and Mogadore. Lorien was smaller than Earth and richer in natural resources. They also have Cêpan which were individuals that possessed legacies (special powers). Mogadore on the other hand became too industrialized, that their planet became a bunch of waste which make it lose its resourcing. Thus, they invade Lorien.

Lorien got defeated. But before their planet became something that has nothing but barren land, they sent Nine Cêpan, together with their guardians to Earth to protect their legacy. The Lorien Elders placed a charm on the kids – they can only be killed in order. If someone will attempt to kill them, and it’s not their time yet, whatever you will do on that kid will happen to you. Bangis!

There you go, questions answered! Yeay!

As usual, the book was way better than the movie. Everything that you need to know and understand about the film was there. Its more dramatic, and its way different than the film. Even though I know it’s just fiction, it’s more realistic. In the film, they killed the Mogadores in a wicked fight scene, however in the book, they just escaped, Six and Four were badly hurt, then they start looking for the others. Which was really believable, they were outnumbered so though they have all the Legacies that they need, they still run. However the film just showed how kicked ass they can get.

Some parts of the book were boring though. Part like Number Four thinking about Sarah for almost three pages was boring. I don’t like it, or maybe I’m just jealous of Sarah. Haha. :)

Rating will be a 10! The book is nicely done, easy to read, and its addicting. I can’t wait to read the other Lorien Legacies. So far, Book Two (The Power of Six) is already out, and from what I found out on Youtube, Book Three (The Rise of Nine) will be out on August next year. Ang tagal pa, amp!

It also teaches a good story – hope. When all else fails, never give up on hope.

Have a great Sunday!

Veronika Decides to Die/I am Number Four

I haven’t finished IT, and I already lend it to someone because lately, I am feeling lazy don’t have much time to read. I also bought two new books over the weekend, and of course, I will talk about it.

Read on!

Veronika Decides to Die By Paulo Coehlo

I know I own too many Paulo Coelho books already but I just can’t help it. It also upsets me that this book is too popular and I haven’t read it. I also read on Wiki that this book has an adaptation where Sarah Michelle Gellar played Veronika. You can finish the book in one sitting however I don’t want to do that. Haha! Lately, all I want to do was to make sure that I will finish a book a week. Books may get pretty expensive, and Paulo Coelho books are not on book sale.

The book is about a girl who commits suicide, which failed. Then because of the pills that she took, her heart went weak to the point that she will die in five to seven days. I am already in the middle of the book, and to my surprise, it doesn’t talk much about Veronika. Yeah, she may be the lead of the book but the general idea revolves not only on her but with the other people she met at an asylum.

The Book deals about insanity, craziness, and doing something out of your comfort zone. It also talks about death in a very different way. You have to read the book to figure out what I am trying to say here.

I Am Number Four By Pittacus Lore

I am really not fond of books being turned into movie. Movies are sometimes deceiving; sometimes they just remove the important parts of a novel.

However, when I saw this movie l was pretty much intrigue with the idea. Aliens killing another alien in an order – that is pretty weird, right? The movie doesn’t explain much behind the story of Number Four and his clan. All it said was Number Four was from some planet that was invaded by Aliens who looks disgusting and they are now being hunted here. Number Four, together with Number Six, will definitely fight their enemies. Their next mission will be finding the remaining “numbers” in order to be stronger.

Pretty Interesting book I may say.

There you go. Two new books for two weeks!
