Day 16: The Dead

I’ve just been granted the power of resurrection but I can only use it to bring back one dead celebrity. I would bring back ________ because…

Anne Frank was the first person who entered my mind. I know it will be interesting to know her story in the attic coming straight from her. I want to hear her story. Also, I want to find out how she died, since up to this point it is still a mystery. But it will be a morbid thought, so Anne Frank was removed from the list.

Next, entered Michael Jackson for the sole reason that he makes great music and it will be cool if he could just stay. But since I will not understand how Michael speak, let’s just let him Rest in Peace. Probably, I will go with Whitney Houston because I miss her and her songs. Also if she will have another chance, maybe she can still correct the mistakes that she made in the past. But seeing how her voice change bothers me so let’s just leave her rest.

Then, I thought of J.P. Rizal because the patriotic side of me really idolizes him. But knowing how times have change, probably Pepe will be upset if he will find out how much his country change since the time he died for it.

So I will just settle for Cato of the Hunger Games, aside from he is hot, he is someone who will make Katniss’ life interesting. It will be cool to see if he will change if he ever live. Probably, He can be a better love interest for the book’s lead. Well, at least that is something that I look up to.

Mockingjay

By: Suzanne Collins

Don’t get me wrong, do not even try to hate, but since I am so in sync with the 30 Days of Honesty thing, I will be very honest. Open-mouthed smile

The Hunger Games will give you an introduction of how miserable it is to live in Panem. Catching Fire will excites you more. The new characters and how the plot progress is really amazing. I am really trying my best to describe Mockingjay and the only thing that is entering in my head right now is how depressing it is.

Maybe I was expecting a better ending, or something that is way too far from how violent the first two books were, but it is really disappointing that though Katniss was able to find her happy ever after, she still suffered a lot. And her life was still used for someone else’s gain.

As the story continue, Katniss found herself as the face of the rebellion, she was helping the rebels by boosting their morale and making sure that they will not falter no matter what the Capitol do to them. She was called the Mockingjay because of the pin that she wore throughout her stay in the arena.

If the first two books were violent, multiply it by 10 and you will have this book. haha! Children being explode, Finnick being eaten by Mutts, Prim dying, girls with shaved head, meat grinders, fumes that will kill you in seconds, drugs being used to sedate someone, and believe me, the list goes on. Though it was described in a very subtle way, just thinking about how miserable Katniss felt all throughout really makes me feel uncomfortable.

When I was reading the book, all I can ever think of was, Will Katniss Everdeen’s life be happy?

However, the series is really good. I think what makes it good was though it deals with a very sensitive and controversial topic, every thing was dealt in a heartfelt way. You know violence exist because it was part of the story. Hence, you will not concentrate on it, you will focus on the story more.

Now, I can’t wait for the movie adaptation. I wonder who will play the role of Finnick.

Thanks Brian for being so generous and providing me the copies of the books. Apir!

The Hunger Games

By: Suzanne Collins

After I watched the movie, I know that I have to read the book. Definitely the story is interesting. It will give you something to think about.

I rarely watch movies inspired by book. Because sometimes, the movie will come up with a shorter version of what the book is like, deleting most of the important parts for entertainment purposes. However, props should be definitely given to the people behind the movie version, though they removed some part of the book, the plot of the movie really concentrated on how the story was written.

With a violent theme, Suzanne Collins was able to describe the book in a way that it will not concentrate on the battle part. Like the film, you will not be able to see body parts being torn apart, the movie is really intended for everyone.

It is really a good book! I cant wait finishing Book 2 and 3.

Enjoy Reading!
